What is CrossFit Kids?

CrossFit Kids is a strength-and-conditioning program designed to effectively teach the CrossFit methodology to children aged 3-18 years through age-appropriate instruction and cueing. In a group setting, kids participate in fun and engaging workouts that deliver measurable results. This prepares them not only to be well-rounded athletes but also hard-working and tenacious people.

What makes CrossFit Kids Different?

CrossFit Kids workouts consist of constantly varied, functional movements that deliver a fitness that is broad, inclusive and general (B.I.G.) and are scalable for any participant at any level. What this means is that each child experiences challenge and reward every workout, basing success on effort rather than comparison. All athletes develop a foundation of general physical preparedness, giving them the ability to perform any and all tasks demanded of them in their sport and in life.

Our program is designed to help our athletes improve in the following ten domains: Cardiovascular Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Accuracy, and Balance.

Why choose a CrossFit Kids Registered Program?

Attending a CrossFit Kids Registered Program means that your trainer has been background checked and this check is renewed annually. Your trainer has studied how to teach CrossFit to children using age appropriate cues and methods. Your affiliate has additional insurance to protect your child. They have taken steps to ensure to best instruction for your child.

What should I look for in my CrossFit Kids coach?

Good CrossFit Kids trainers’ classes will have the following characteristics:

  1. FUN! Every class is loaded with age-appropriate fun coupled with fitness.
  2. Quality of movement is always prioritized above weight and intensity. The focus of every class is on how well the children move, not how much or fast.
  3. The movements are constantly varied and functional, e.g. squats.

CrossFit Pre-K (Ages 3-5)

The Pre-K class is designed to introduce our youngest group to the concepts of good movement, body awareness, and basic CrossFit movements.  The class is focused on teaching kids to think of exercise as FUN, while teaching proper movement to support development. Skills are focused on the very basic foundations of functional movement and age appropriate developmental motor skills for the average 3- to 5-year-old.

Class Duration: 30-35 minutes (Parents/guardians must stay during class)

Class Times: Wednesdays 3:45-4:15pm

CrossFit Kids (Ages 6-10)

The Kids class builds on the foundation of fun fitness as introduced in the Pre-K class. The skillset is expanded to include more of CrossFit’s foundational and supplemental movements.  The goal of the CrossFit Kids program is develop and improve general physical fitness in order to prepare kids to be safe in sports (and life in general), as well as instill a lifelong love of fitness and an active lifestyle. Despite the increased physical demands of the class, the focus of the Kids class is still on fun and proper movement.

Class Duration: 30-35 minutes (Parents/guardians must stay during class)

Class Times: Wednesdays 4:30-5:00pm

CrossFit Pre-Teens (10-12) & Teens (13-17)

Building from the CrossFit Kids class, the goal of the CrossFit Teens program is to improve health and fitness, as well as athletic performance. This program utilizes age appropriate weight lifting techniques (only building weight after demonstrating consistent proper movement without weight), basic gymnastic/bodyweight movements and cardiovascular conditioning.  CrossFit Teens develops full-body strength, flexibility, power, and balance to supplement all athletics.  Teens will gain confidence and reduce injury risk. Classes are perfect for everyone from serious athletes to those seeking to maintain an active lifestyle.

Class Duration:  45 min-1 hour for Pre-Teens; 1 hour for Teens

Class Times: Mon/Wed/Thurs at 6:30pm for Pre-Teens; Please inquire for Teens
